Auckland Cargo Rates

(Special.)

AUCKLAND, This Day.

In order to meet recurring yearly deficits the Auckland Harbour Board yesterday decided to apply to the Stabilisation Commission for approval of the levying of a harbour improvement rate of 1/6 a ton on inward and outward goods, with a few exceptions, and to increase goods wharfage dues and crane, dock and slipway, shipping wharfage and towing charges. The new charges, which are expected to bring the board an additional £193,335, will be the first major increases levied since 1926. *
