Records Made By Whangarei Dairy Co
Two new records were established by the Whangarei Coop. Dairy Company Ltd during the first two months of its 1947-48 production season. The butter make of 166 tons was the largest August output recorded during the 40 years of the company’s history. The total output of 205 tons for the season to date also eclipsed any other figures for the corresponding period in other seasons. The previous records for August production and for the initial two months of the year were made in the 1942-43 season, when the August make was 161 tons and the output for July and August totalled 2041 tons. When it is considered that these records were established five years ago when the amount of milk required for the town supply was considerably less than it is at present, the full significance of this year’s figures can be appreciated. The Whangarei figures for last month were 34 per cent better than last August’s make of 126 tons, while for the season to date, an increase of 31 per cent above the 156-ton 1946-47 total was recorded. From 10 Northland dairy factories, August makes have shown an average improvement of 20 per cent above that of last year, while for the season to date the average increase has been close to 25 per cent. Substantial gains have been reported by individual companies, but so far no reports of other records have been received. Further details in addition to those published yesterday are:
