Higher Fores On Wellington Planes

(F.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The National Airways Corporation advises that the closing of Rongotai airport to all commercial aircraft on September 27. as announced last Saturday effects all National Airways Services into and out of Wellington. After this date all services depart from and arrive at Paraparaumu.

The corporation says 'it regrets the inconvenience to passengers and will do its best to minimise these as far as possible. A traffic building and cafeteria are being erected at Paraparaumu and the most comfortable buses available will be used.

The corporation is faced with heavy additional expense in connection with the temporary operation of Paraparaumu—transportation of passengers by road and additional flying to and from the South Island, also the heavycost of operating and servicing aircraft in this field.

The present level of fares makes it impossible for these additional costs to be absorbed by the corporation, and the directors regret the necessity to impose an additional charge of 10/on all passenger fares in and outyof Wellington while the services are operated from Paraparaumu.

There is no additional charge for through passengers and freight rates to and from Wellington will not be increased.

The services will not be reduced, it was announced, but timetables are affected and these will be announced shortly.

Mr 'I. H.. MacArthur, of Wellington, has been ejected chairman of the management committee of the New Zealand \awn Tennis Association. Mr A. H. Richards is deputy-chairman.
