Higher Values For Hamilton Property

(Special.) HAMILTON, This Day. Provisional figures released by the Valuation Department of the revaluation of Hamilton city show an increase of approxirrtately 35 per cent, in the overall unimproved value of properties, the total as at March 31, 1947, being £3,458,000. The figure for 1940 was £2,564,153. The revaluation 1 was undertaken in an effort to remove anomalies and to introduce a greater degree of uniformity in the basic values for rating purposes,’the last roll of the area having been made in 1930. With a rise of 42 per cent, on last year’s figures, the capital value has increased from £7,828,972 to a provisional total of £11,100,000. A final analysis on the valuations illustrating the percentage increases in different areas of the city will not be undertaken until the objections have been heard. Very few objections to the .assessments have been lodged with the department.
