Tarnishing Great Achievement
Mr Jinnah, broadcasting over Lahore radio, said Moslems had achieved Pakistan by the power of the pen. “Are we going to tarnish this/greatest achievement by resorting to savagery and butchery?”
Mr Jinnah added that Pakistan people must abide by the boundary commission’s awai'd, though it might be unjust. HINDUS ATTACK TRAINS
The frontier mail train, running from Bombay to Peshawar, was,attacked and set on fire at Khanna station, between Ambala and Ludhiana, East Punjab. One first-class compartment was burnt out and one person killed. A goods train, carrying employees of the Pakistan Government and their baggage, was attacked and burnt at Bahadurgarh station, 20 miles from New Delhi.
Troops were sent to the scene but the crowd dispersed before their arrival, leaving the,train burning. The Royal Air Force has agreed to
place at the disposal of both India and Pakistan two squadrons . for the evacuation of railway and' post and telegraph employees from each others’ territories. It is estimated that the evacuation will take about a fortnight.
British officers will continue to command the forces in the boundary area. Major-General Rees, who commanded the Punjab Boundary Force, will command the Indian Boundary Force, and Major-General Gane will command the Pakistan troops. Both will have headquarters in Lahore and they will cooperate.
