Racing And Trotting Meetings Tomorrow
SPORTTNCs
The New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club's meeting, which will conclude at Addington tomorrow, and the Waikato Trotting Club's winter meeting at Claudelands, constitute the light-harness sport for this week-end. Galloping fixtures comprise the second day of the Taranaki Hunt Club's fixture at New Plymouth, and the Foxton Racing Club’s spring meeting, at Foxton.
j At Addington the principal event is the National Handicap, two miles, in which the favourite division may be: | Nyallo Scott, Dundee Sandy and Carneronian. The Free-For-All, one mile five furlongs, is expected to provide another exciting finish between Highland Fling and Emulous, with a likelihood of Gold Bar also being prominent.
The Halcombe Memorial Handicap, one mile 21 furlongs, is the main flat event at the New Plymouth meeting. A good finishing run by Titahi last Saturday will assure him strong support but two which are expected to improve are Gay Youth and Vonettee. Peter Gregor, Drambuie and Tommy Gun may be best supported for the Stratford Handicap, the open sprint. Commotion was the unlucky horse at the Hutt meeting in June when he tangled in the straight when in a wining position. He has not raced since, but is reported to be in first-class order for the City Handicap, one mile five furlongs, the principal event on the Waikato Trotting Club's programme at Claudelands. His greatest opposition may come from Fillmore and Ivy Goodwin, both winners at Thames last Saturday.
