Hungarian Election

(Rec. 11 a.m.) BUDAPEST. Aug. 27. The Hungarian Government banned the Opposition Independent Party's final election meeting.

The Times correspondent in Budapest says the tumult and shouting of the Hungarian elections, which hitherto have not been at all loud, will die today. No public speeches will be made until the poll on Sunday. This is in accordance with the usual practice. The rest of the campaigning will be done in the newspapers. This will give a certain advantage to the Coalition parties, since very few of the Opposition parties have any public Press. Except for an election fight at Csongrad, the chief meetings of the Opposition have been conducted without serious interruption. _ ~ In the Csongrad incident, Mr Zoltan Pfeiffer, leader of the Hungarian Independent Party, and one of the party’s candidates were severely injured during riots which broke up a party meeting.
