Effort To Halt Cargo Pilfering

(P.A.) AUCKLAND, This Day. With a view to eliminating cargo pilfering, a bureau of interested organisations has been set up here. This was announced today at a meeting of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce. It was reported that the Chamber of [Commerce had sponsored investigation of pilfering, and a special committee reached the conclusion that one of the first necessities was to give greater strength to the wharf police. The police told the committee that information they received was insufficient to help them. They were rarely approached by shipping companies, importers or others .interested. Organisations constituting the membership of the bureau for eliminating pilfering have not been revealed, the matter having been dealt with in committee.
