Stole Dress, Costumes While On Honeymoon
While on her honeymoon, Doreen Lyleth Tairau, 27, stole a dress and two cosutmes valued at £6/2/6 from a Whangarei shop yesterday. In the Whangarei Court today she pleaded guilty to a charge of stealing the garments, electing to be dealt with summarily. The magistrate (Mr W T . C. Harley) remanded her for sentence until Tuesday, and asked Senior-Sergeant J. Sutherland if the police objected to bail being granted. Senior-Sergeant Sutherland said that neither Tairau nor her husband was working. They had beten married on June 17 and were on their honeymoon.
Bail was allowed Tairau in her own recognisance of £5 and her husband’s surety of £lO.
