Bulldozer WidelyUsed By Farmers

Exactly 700 farmers have taken advantage of a heavy bulldozer operated by Mr Ken Batty which has been working between Okaihau and Herekino. The farmers have been using the bulldozer for building roads, removing stumps and for hauling purposes, while in the Hokianga district dams have been popular. Since the last two droughts many farmers had been driving stock to water, which at some places was miles away. Weighing 8i tons, the machine is a 05 h.p. model of the. hydraulic angle type and will be working over the same area next summer. Mr Batty said that there would be as much work done next season, as most of the farmers have further work to do which requires a bulldozer. They hope to complete this work next summer. In order to enable farmers to have their work ready when the bulldozer arrives, the progress of the machine will be announced in the Advocate each month.—(P.B.A.) 804
