Record Gates In Hutt Valley

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Believed to be a record for any boxing association in New Zealand, box office and gate receipts totalling £20.468 were received by the Hutt Valley Boxing Association, according to the statement of receipts and payments for the year ended February 28. As its share of the gates the New Zealand Boxing Council received £lOOl. Receipts include the Patrick-Murphy fight and the two Murphy-Jones fights. Purses and expenses totalled £8317.

The association began the year with a balance of £839 and concluded with a profit of £5696. The report states that the executive could see in sight the goal for which it was aiming—a stadium which could cater for all sports bodies in Hutt Valley.
