Baptist Offering

(P.A.) WELLINGTON. This Day. A record offering of over £BOOO was received by the Baptist Union in its annual self-denial week at the beginning of May. The objective was £7OOO. Only'three weeks later, on May 25, further £3500 w - as given in response to an appeal from India to assist with famine relief in Tripura State. This made a total gift of over £11.500 from 9000 Baptists in four weeks.

These figures were given yesterday by the president of the Baptist Union, Mr B. Williams, of Auckland, who is attending the union’s annual council meeting at Wallis House, Lower Hutt.
