New Posts For Air Force Officers

(Special) AUCKLAND. This Day. Postings of a number of senior oflicrs of the Royal New Zealand Air Force well known in Auckland have been announced by the Air Department.

Wing Commander W. H. Stratton, D.F.C.. administration officer at Whennuapai, has been posted to Japan to join the operations stafT of the British Commonwealth Air Force.

He will replace another New Zealander, Wing Commander S. G. Quill. D.F.C., who commanded No. 14 (Fighter) Squadron, now in Japan, during its first three tours of operations in the Pacific war.

To replace Wing Commander Stratton at Whenuapai, Squadron Leader J. J. de WillimofT, D.F.C., M.8.E.. has been chosen. Until recently he commanded No. 14 Squadron in Japan, and was another of New Zealand's more distinguished fighter pilots in the Pacific during the Second World War. He has been succeeded in Japan by Squadron Leader D. F. St George. D.F.C. Wing Commander Quill's new post in New Zealand has not yet been announced.
