Consistent Performers In Hokowhitu Handicap
SPORTING
The presence of such consistent performers as Robin’s Reward, Young Trent, Theiolyn, High Orders, Precedency and Dileas among the 21 acceptors for the Hokowhitu Handicap, 1-J miles, the principal event at Awapuni tomorrow, will assure a wide range of betting and should provide a first-class contest. Fields for the other events are good, with the exception of the Awapuni Steeplechase, which has drawn only seven runners. The Rongotea Handicap, seven furlongs, is the main sprint event, for which three well-supportecl candidates may be Malanui, Fortune’s Smile and Playtos. Recent good showings will ensure support for the following horses: 11.0—Rangitane Hurdles, 1 mile 5 fur: Ist Div.: Selected, Olga’s Choice; 2nd Div.: The Crofter, Grand Central. 11.40—Makerua Steeples, 2 miles 3 fur.; Northfield. Lanoma, Tid-Apa. 12.35—Hokowhitu Handicap, lj miles: Robin’s Reward, Young Trent, Precedency. I.B—Awapuni Steeples. 3 miles: Gay Rouen, Kilnianagh, Red Glare. 1.53 To Marne Handicap, 7 furlongs: Ist Div.: Tribute, Concrete; 2nd Div.; Shenandoah, Idle Along . 2.37—Ruakawa Hurdles, 1 mile 7 fur.: Peria Prince, Ray Rohe, Glad Fox. 3.2s—Rongotea Handicap, 7 furlongs: Malanui, Playtos, Fortune’s Smile. 4:ls—Awatapu Handicap, lj miles: Mr 8 Pym, General Lytup, Aristea.
