Arrangements For Waipoua Petition
A committee of two members was set up by the Whangarei District Pro-
gressive Society executive last night to make arrangements for the public meeting sponsored by the society for the preservation of Waipoua Kauri Forest,
Cn Ihe motion of Mr W. L. McKinnon the society decided to appoint a committee with power to act and coopt 1 o make .these arrangements. The president (Mr J. F. Johnson) and the secretary (Mr W. R. Vailance) were nominated as the society’s members, z
Addressed to the appropriate authorities petitions for the preservation of the forest will be available at the Whangarei Town Hall on the night of June Hi when the meeting is to be held. Speakers will be Dr G. Archey and Mr W. R. McGregor (Auckland), Mr C. B. Miehie (Kaitaia), Mr E. T. Frost (Mang'onui), and Mr J. D. Mitchell (Whangarei).
Mr Johnson said that although the petitions had not yet been printed he had received applications outside Whangarei that they might be distributed among certain districts.
