(P.A.) AUCKLAND. This Day. A Halifax freight aircraft of London Aero and Motors Services arrived at Whenuapai at 11 a.m. today. The plane, which is under command of the company’s chief pilot, Mr K. F. Thiele, formerly of Christchurch left London on April 23, travelling via Iceland, Canada, the United States, Honolulu. Canton Island and Fiji. From Fiji the plane brought thousands of empty beer bottles. There is a shortage of New Zealand beer in Fiji because the scarcity of bottles here forced a cut in export. The bottles will be filled and despatched to Fiji.
