Japs To Have 1930-4 Living Standard

(Rec. 10.30.) WASHINGTON, April 18,

The Far Eastern Commission has decided that Japan should retain an industrial potential sufficient to give the living standard obtaining there in 1930-34 and to send an appropriate directive to General MacArthur.

It is hoped that full effectT will be given to the decision by 1950, when living standards will be higher than now but lower than during the occupation of Manchuria prior to Japan beginning the war against the United States.

The Associated Press says the decision means that all that the Japanese constructed since 1934 will be available for distribution as reparations.
