Indoor Bowls Season Opens

Indoor bowls began on Thursday in the Whangarei Town Hall, when the chairman of the Whangarei Friendly Society’s Indoor Bowls Committee (Mr A. H. Galloway) introduced the Mayor (Mr W. Jones), who officially opened the season, Mr Jones congratulated me society on its efforts to promote goodwill amr ng members. Before play commenced, ,wo learns from the Muungatapere MUIOOF, who will bo playing in place of i.ho Hikurangi teams, unable to compete this season because the tournament is held on Thursday nights, were introduced. Results were: A section. —Semi-finals: Whangarei Druids beat Maungatapere. M.U. beat ICCF. A play-off between M.U. and Druids was won by M.U. B section. —Druids beat Maungatapere. In the fipals, AOF beat Druids in the final game. AOF was beaten bv M.U. ‘M.U. will held the Flewellyn Cup until the next tournament in four weeks' time.
