WEDDING

Taylor—Garton The wedding of Alexander, third son of Mr and Mrs John Taylor, to Christine Elva, third daughter of Mrs L. F. Garton and the late Mr J. Garton, was solemnised in the Oruru Church on April 3. The church was beautifully decorated by friends of the bride. The officiating minister was the Rev. L. M. R. Gilmore. The bride, who entered the church with her brother, Mr Roland Garton, wore a beautiful gown of ivory embossed cloque, cut on classical lines, with extended shoulders and heart-shaped neckline, the slimfitting skirt finishing with a train. The beautiful lace-edged veil, falling from a headpiece of orange blossoms, formed a second train. A shower bouquet of white cactus dahlias and carnations competed the bride's ensemble. Mrs A. F. Trigg, of Whatitiri, attended as matron-of-honour and was gowned in a very colourful dress of floral taffeta with a lime-green crepe coatee. Her headpiece and bouquet were of pink and mauve dahlias to match her outfit. Mr Colin Forsyth attended the bridegroom as best man. During the signing of the register Mr Wallace Garton sang “O Promise Me.” Mrs Allan Garton officiated at the organ. After the ceremony a reception was held in the Oruru Hall, where 200 guests were received by Mrs Garton, who wore a black suit with pink shoulder spray. Mr W. Hoskin was toastmaster. Mr and Mrs Taylor left after the reception by car for their honeymoon trip, the bride wearing a green suit with tan coat and accessories to match.
