Arrangements For Funeral
Late Mr Sullivan
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Arrangements for the funeral of the late Hon. D. G. Sullivan ~ were announced by the Prime Minister (Mr Fraser) last night. Solemn Requiem Mass will be celebrated at St Mary of the Angels at 9.30 on Thursday morning, when Archbishop O'Shea will preside and carry out the ceremonies of absolution. The Rt. Rev. T. F. Connolly will be the celebrant and the Rev. Father Paul Kane will preach the panegyric. The coffin will then be conveyed to Parliament House, where the body will lie in state from 11.30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Members of the public may pay their respects between noon and 3 p.m. The wreaths will be displayed in the social hall.
The funeral on foot will leave from the main steps of Parliament House at 4 o'clock and proceed through the grounds of Parliament Buildings, down Bunny Street to Waterloo Quay. The coffin will be taken to Christchurch by the inter-island ferry steamer Rangitirn on Thursday night. The body will lie in stale at the Civic Theatre. ' Christchurch. throughout Friday and a Solemn Requiem Mass will be celebrated at the Roman Catholic Cathedral on Saturday morning. The funeral will leave the cathedral immediately after the Mass and the interment will take place in tiro Bromley Lawn Cemetery.
