Kamo Yo&ith Centre Committee Formed
What is to be the nucleus for a youth centre in the town, the Kamo Youth Centre Committee, was formed at an enthusiastic public meeting held at Kamo recently. Mr S. Peters stated that several unsuccessful attempts had been made to awaken citizens to their resnonsibilii i f
lies towards the youth of the town, where leaders of youth movements had long felt the need for a strong representative committee. The capain of the Kamo Boys’ Brigade (Mr W. H. Boswell) said that tire Kamo Town Board had received very encouraging replies to its representations to have the old Kamo School presented as a community youtii centre. Mr J. Piatt, who wished to form a boxing gymnasium, felt that the committee would be able to manage the club's affairs. It was decided to form a committee, which would control, and be responsible for, any youth clubs which were prepared to affiliate with the youth centre. Both Mr Boswell and Mr Piatt said that they would be very pleased to have their organisations incorporated in tire centre. Other clubs in Kamo would be invited to join .and it would be the committee's responsibility to sponsor further clubs with a widening circle of interests.
The committee is to sponsor a boxing tournament in the near future io assist the boxing club to purenase equipment. Officers were elected as follows: Patron. Mr E. Wilkinson; president. Mr S.
