Henry Ford Died In Candle-Lit Room
(Received 11.30'a.m.) DETROIT. April 8. THE death has occurred of Mr Henry Ford sour, aged 83 years. Floods had disabled the lighting system and one of the world’s wealthiest men died in a room lit only by candles and kerosene lamps.
A lew hours before he died he toured one of the company’s plants, investigating damage caused by the storm on April 6. He later told his wife he felt unwell.
Mrs Ford gave him a drink of water.
He died peacefully 25 minutes later. The cause of his death is unknown.

It will lie in state all day on Wednesday at'a hall in Greenfield Village, Dearborn, near his birthplace. The funeral service will be held on Thursday at St Paul's Episcopal Cathedral. Detroit.
Henry Ford 11., president of the Ford Motor Company, announced that all the company’s operations throughout the world will be suspended on Thursday and flags will be half-masted on all Ford properties.

The Associated Press says the Ford Motor Company’s asset valuation at December was approximately 750,000,000 dollars. His personal fortune is estimated at £50,000,000.
Many tributes were paid by motor industrialists, including Mr B. E. Hutchinson, vice-president of the Chrysler Corporation, who said Mr Ford conceived the great vision of mass production. He will be remembered throughout history as one of the great men of this age. Mr George Mason, president of the Automobile Manufacturers' Association, said Mr Ford ranked with Edison,’ Pasteur and other immortals who made important contributions to mankind’s welfare and progress. Senator Vandenberg said Mr Ford founded a new national economy.

Creator of the Ford Motor Company and pioneer of mass production, Mr Ford was considered to have done more than any other single person to build up the present huge industrial framework of the United States.
