UNO Session On Palestine

(Rec. 1.10 p.m.) NEW YORK. April 2. Britain formally requested the United Nations today to summon, as sobn as possible, a special session of tire General Assembly to deal with the Palestine question. Sir Alexander Cadogan's letter to the Secretary-General said Britain would submit an account of its administration of the Palestine mandate and would ask the Assembly to make recommendations on the future Government of Palestine. Earlier, the United States, Russia, France and China had agreed to a special session. The Secretary-General will consult the 55- members and, if 23 submit af-fh-mative answers, the Assembly will be convened immediately.. Abandoned Moledeth (Rec. 1 p.m.) LONDON, April 2. Admiralty information shows that the crew abandoned the illegal immigrant ship Moledeth, which radioed an SOS off the Palestine coast reporting that the ship was in danger and sinking. The Admiralty says the ship at first refused assistance on the pretence that the vessel had only slight defects. The ship later sent out a further SOS and accepted aid. The ship, whose actual name is the San Felipo, was without boiler water and was leaking badly. The lower scuttles would not close and the roll of the ship was so great that the scuttles came within 18 inchqfS of the water.

The San Felipo is a 71-year-old iron steamship of 7944 tons.
