Hundreds Saved From Sydney Surf (Rec. 11.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day.
Hundreds of people were rescued at Sydney beaches yesterday in the wildest day’s surf this season. Several popular beaches were closed because of the heavy and dangerous surf. ' '* Life-savers had a busy day using reels, boats, boards and surf skis. . Though huge waves swept the swimmers seaward, sometimes 00 at a time, there were no fatalities. Injuries were confined to abrasions damaged fingers, suffered mainly by rescuers when boats and boards were dumped in breakers.
