By the use of flares, the Dawn found the Waitangi between Cape Turnagam and Black Head, about 70 miles south of Napier, at 3.30 on Saturday morning and took her in tow. WIRELESS TOUCH Wireless communication with the yacht was established by Mr W. Taylor, of Napier, at 10 p.m. on Friday, and maintained during the night. The Waitangi left Auckland on March 4 to sail direct to Lyttelton, the home port of Mr J. H. Killian, her new owner. On board were Mr Killian and his wife, a wireless expert, Mr K. \V. Windsor, of Auckland, and two other Aucklanders. After suffering a buffeting near East Cape, the yacht put in to Hicks’ Bay to dry out her sails and make the gear shipshape. She passed Hawke’s Bay on Thursday night and then ran into a severe gale which caused damage to her rigging and-threatened to carry away the mast.
