Wool Burned In Freezing-Works Blaze

(P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. A spectacular fire last night destroyed the wool packing department of the Canterbury Frozen Meat. Company's works at Belfast. As the result of good work by the works firemen and the Christchurch fire brigade, adjoining departments, near-by timber racks and a store full of bales of wool escaped damage. The building destroyed was a brick, one-storeyed structure, and measured 100 ft by 50ft. A considerable quantity of wool in bales and bins was destroyed.

No other parts of the works were affected and killing operations, now at their peak, will not be held up. The last fire at the works, in 1940, occurred in the same building.
