Spectre Of Hunger Not So Remote

(Rec. 11 a.m.) LONDON, Mar. 12. “The spectre of hunger is not so remote as might be imagined.” said Mr James'- Turner, president of the National Farmers’ Union in a broadcast. He added that the farming calendar was six weeks behind which meant that the country's rations for next year were In real danger. There would be a desperate struggle on farms during the coming months.

Mr Turner urged farmers not to be deterred by political or other pettiness, and work “all God-given hours of fine weather,” for the nation’s food.
