RSA Request For Street Day Refused
(Special.) AUCKLAND. This Day. The Auckland City Council decided last night to take no action in response to the request of the Auckland Returned Services’ Association for permission to hold a Rose Day street collection. Instead, the association will be advised to make application to the National Patriotic Fund Board for a grant of an amount equal to the sum which would be collected on a street day.
Tasman Record (Special.) AUCKLAND, This Day. A new record for Tasman Empire Airways flyingboats operating between Auckland and Sydney was established recently by the Tasman, one of the new Tasman class aircraft, when it completed the west-bound crossing in 7 hours 4 minutes, which was three minutes better than the previous fastest time for that trip. The flyingboat was commanded by Captain D. W. Keesing.
