CANBERRA, Mar. 5. A scheme of retiring allowances for every Australian citizen will be' examined by the Government. This has been promised by the Prime Minister, Mr Chifley, in a statement to members of the Parliamentary Labour Party. The scheme would bring about the eventual abolition of the means test and the winding-up of all superannuation and private pension schemes. Members of the party who have been agitating for the easing of the means test have accepted Mr Chiflcy’s promise with enthusiasm. Mr Chifley is understood to have told the caucus that, if the scheme were adopted, it would mean the end of Government superannuation funds for public servants. Persons entitled to superannuation, or to pensions arranged through private firms, would be entitled to a lump sum for the payments they had already made into these funds. The advantage of the scheme would be that people would no longer be tied to jobs for a specified number of years. "L
