I The Whangarei Centre Women's | Institutes is forwarding to the DoI minion Federation a donation towards i obtaining a birthday present for Princess Elizabe'h upon her coming of age. I The monthly meeting of the centre, j held on Wednesday, was well attended and a new member was enrolled. Mrs Webb presided. The financial statement was very satisfactory. Mrs Lester 2. Potatoes. grown from 1 lb of seed, donated by institute to members: Mrs Courtney 1, Mesdamcs Calder and Hirlzel, equal. 2. The judge (Mrs Wilcox said the potatoes were fine samples, those grown on the heavy soils being heavier in quantity and of good size and shape. The Drama Circle entertained with a play, “The Ministery of Agriculture.” Mrs Roland as the Minister, Mrs Smith as his secretary and Mrs Thomson as the old lady were all very entertaining and humorous. Mrs Webb (piano) and Mrs Rolands (violin) played duets. Mrs Beale, a former member who now resides in the Waikato, was present, and entertained with a recitation. Hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Courtney. Coward, Corbett and Donaldson.
