Found Dead With Money Ail Around
(P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. When the police opened a locked room in a Chinese rooming house in Madras Street this morning, they found Gin Ming Oy. aged 54. married, iaudryman, lying dead on a bed.
They also found that Gin had a minor fortune of about £I2OO scattered round the bedroom in paper packages.
It is believed that Gin died from natural causes.
An inquest was opened for identification purposes. The packages containing money were scattered all round the room. They held not only banknotes, but a sizeable quantity of silver in New Zealand, Canadian, United States. Australian, English and even Chinese currency.
There Was over £6OO in New Zealand money and over £4OO in United States dollars. Gin once worked in Christchurch as a gardener. « He had spent the last few years employed, in a Chinese laundry.
