Allege Jealousy Caused Murder

(Rec. 1.30 p.m.) LONDON, Jan, 23 Mrs Brook, about whom the Crown alleged Thomas John Ley was insanely, was the first witness to be called by the prosecution when the hearing of charges against Ley and Lawrence John Smith for the murder of John Mcßain Mudie was resumed at the West London Police Court. Mrs Brook said Ley made an accusation about Mudie and another man, also her son-in-law.

She met Mudie only once. He never blackmailed her. John William Buckingham, 21, son of the man against whom a charge of murder was withdrawn on January 16, gave evidence that he and his father and a Mrs Bruce went to Reigatc on November 28, picked up Mudie and took him to London. He and his father then went to various public houses. His father showed him between £l5O and £l6O which had been handed to him.
