WELLINGTON, This Day In the second day's play of the interprovincial women’s cricket match for the Hallburton Johnstone Shield yesterday, Auckland gained a first innings lead over Wellington. Wellington added only one run to its overnight score of 198 for nine wickets when play resumed. In the first innings Wellington made 199 runs. The high scorer in the second innings was J. Hatcher, who was not out for 22. The score for the second innings totalled 36. Auckland's first innings totalled 216 iE. Daniels 16. V. Robinson 40, H. Thompson 81, E. Simmonds 30; Francis took three for 40, I. Lamason three for 49. Shendan two for 15. J. Lamason two for 56. Fulford none for 27).

University Match

(Special.) AUCKLAND. This Day Victoria College defeated Auckland by 37 runs on the first innings in the inter-university college cricket match which finished at Eden Park yesterday.

Victoria scored 239 in the first innfngs and declared with eight wickets down for 108 in the second; Auckland after scoring 202 in the first innings required. 140 runs in 70 minutes to win the match yesterday, but time was called with the score at 123 for six wickets.
