Former Mine Owner Dismissed

LONDON. Jan. 21 A former colliery owner, Mr George Elliott, who was suspended from his position as unit controller of the Grange Ash Colliery, near Hundersfieid. for hauling down the National Coal Board’s flag, was yesterday dismissed because he refused to obey the board’s order to replace the flag. The colliery had been in the Eiliott family since 1887. "I took the flag down because I felt it was celebrating our downfall,” he said. He added that he would now devote his whole time to farming, which formerly was his hobby.
