Butchers Report Meat Wholesalers
(Roc. 11 a.m.) SYDNEY. This Day Retail butchers have reported a number of meat wholesalers to the Meat and Allied Trades Federation for offering meat for sale above the new ceiling prices. Commencement of a plan by butchers to combat the black market is seen in a statement by the secretary of the Federation (Mr T. A. Herbert) that a list of delinquent wholesalers is being prepared with a view to reporting them to the prices branch. Tire closure of butchers' shops in Newcastle is still on. and master butchers have decided not to reopen until the position is reviewed on Friday.
Timber Probe Urged

A Royal Commission ought to be established immediately to investigate black market operations in timber, because politicians and public servants were seriously involved, said the president of the Master Builders’ Association (Mr C. G. E. Paynterj yesterday. Black-market timber yards were stacked with thousands of superficial feet while legitimate timber merchants were unable to get stocks, he said.
