Greek P.M. Alleges
NEW YORK, December 12,
The Prime Minister o£ Greece (M. Tsaldaris), addressing the United Nations Security Council, accused Bulgaria, Yugoslavia and Albania' 1 of waging a systematic plan to aggression to force the inclusion of Greek Macedonia into the federal Yugoslav state of Macedonia.
"This warlike activity is also aimed at establishing a regime in Greece opposed to the wishes of the vast majority of the people,” he said. Asserting that Greece was experiencing undeclared war, M. Tsaldaris added:
"In the name of the people of Greece, who so far have received nothing beyond platonic praise and actually unjust treatment regarding their countless services to the common cause, I appeal to the conscience of the nations and request the Security Council urgently to adopt measures to end this tragic situation, the continuation of which might endanger peace and security.” “CHARGES CHILDISH” After describing the operations, of Leftist forces in northern Greece, M. Tsaldaris said: “It appears, that, these bands are supplied, organised .and armed in Yugoslavia, _ Bulgdrip and Albania. • y “Tht United Nations possesses means to end Greece's present martyrdom.” -■ M. Kosanovich (Yugoslavia l ) called M. Tsaldar's’ charges childish and proposed that an investigating ‘commission be established immediately' to examine conditions in Greece. (The Associated Press notes that Russia, at a previous meeting of the Security Council, vetoed a similar -proposal made by the United States.) F - M. Kosanovich said the present fighting in Greece was not provoked by foreign influence, but by Greek home policy and by an endeavour to stifle the majority. REIGN OF TERROR "The situation is even more serious because Britain, which supports M. Tsaldaris and still maintains troops in Greece, must share responsibility,” he added. “The presence of these foreign troops has prevented the Greek people from expressing their will.”
Denying the Greek charges point by was carrying on a reign of terror in point, he asserted that the Greek Army northern Greece. He said the internal situation in Greece menaced peace, and asked whether continuation of the Greek regime was of such vital importance.
The Greek Army and . police, he said, included many officers who served under German command during the war. The council adjourned.
