Two Fatal Accidents
A mill hand was killed in the Lake Timber Company’s No. 2 mill at Tokaani: yesterday afternoon. He was: Thomas Rees, aged 18. of Tokaanu. Rees was working in the mill and had driven his axe into the flitch of a log when it came out suddenly and he fell back. Another log which was being lowered by a winch fell on him, fracturing his skull. He died before the doctor and ambulance arrived from Taumarunui. A teamster employed by the Land and Survey Department, Tokoroa Block, was aceidentlly killed at Tokoroa yesterday when the konaki he was driving passed over his hodv after he had been thrown off it. He was: Mr Thomas Martin Horan, aged about 60.
