Freak Storm Wrecks Part Of Township

(Rec. 11.50 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. A freak storm wrecked part of the * small township of Deewhy West, which is part of a northern suburb. ■ The storm traversed only a narrow belt, but within three minutes it had flattened buildings, uprooted telephone poles and snapped off trees up to 18in. thick. Many people had narrow escapes from injury by flying debris. Torrential rain added to the damage caused by ’the violent wind, which burst suddenly on the township. A large hall was lifted from its foundations and hurled about 15ft.
