Kamo Syndicate Wins £12,500 Consultation

THE .£12,500 Whangarei prize-winner in the Melbourne Cup consultation was a Kamo syndicate. The syndicate comprised Mr R. Whitelaw, clerk of the Kamo Town Board, his sister, Miss A. Whitelaw, and Mr A. Avling. Congratulated on his good fortune this morning, Mr Whitelaw said he had bought the winning ticket in Auckland. It was one of three consecutive quarter tickets in the £50,000 consultation. Although he had subscribed to previous consultations, both on his own and as a member of syndicates, he had not taken a ticket for a long time. He had yielded to an impulse io purchase tickets and had purchased three, one of which had been successful. So far he had made no plans for the future. Miss Whitelaw lives at home at Kamo, while Mr Ayling is a gardener at the Kamo Hotel. Neither of them have made any plans of what they intend to do with their windfall.
