Empire Air Forces Radio Linking Begins

(Rec. 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, Nov. 7. One ox the first steps in a plan to bring all the Dominions’ air forces into direct communication with each other and the Royal Air Force was the opening today of a new radio teleprinter circuit between the RAF and the Royal Canadian Air Force, says the Air Ministry news service. A similar link across the Pacific will be established by a circuit from Vancouver to Australia. Extension of existing facilities in India and Australia will mean an unbroken link around the world. The present transatlantic circuit covers 2200 miles, from London to Ottawa. From there it is relayed a further 2500 miles to Vancouver, and COO miles to Halifax. The present single circuit will eventually be supplemented by a multi-channel system.
