German Rocket Experts In Britain

(Rec. 11 a.m.) LONDON, Nov. 7. Nine German rocket teenmeians have arrived in London. They are to work under voluntary contract at Eritish rocket projectile neadquarters in Buckinghamshire. The party saw some of the results of their work as they drove through blitzed streets. The men are; Jurgen Diedrichen, 32, a chemist specialising in V2 warneads; Herman Treutler, 45, pnysicist; Gustav Fielder 48, designer and drauglrtsman; Heinz V/alder, 29, experimental engineer; Carl Meier 4U, experimental engineer; Freidrich Jessen, expeiimenlal engineer; Walter Koltermann, 34 fitter; Johannes Fraunberger, 30, draughtsman; Walter Mueller, 53, who worked on both VI and V2. Their chief, Dr Jouannes Schmidt, 42, a rocket machinery expert, was unable to travel wnn the party because his papers are not yet in order. t 1000 M.P.H. PLANE

Diedrichen said the party would work •on perfecting a plane with which the Germans already, in tests, had reached a speed approaching 10UU miles an hour at a neignt of aO.UUOft. The plane is controlled by a pilot using special oxygen apparatus. Lieuncnen thought n might not be possible to go .much further with rocket development. Autnormes controlling the party expect tneir wortc to be conuned to iaooratones in Britain. Any rocket test's will be carried out in Australia.
