Reds Capitulate In Sydney Dispute

(Rec. 2 p.m.) SYDNEY, This Das'-. The Communists have capitulated unconditionally in the campaign they have been conducting against the anticommunist members of the Balmain Ironworkers’ Union.

The secretary of the Sydney branch of the Ironworkers’ Federation has advised the Labour Council that the Federation would recommend to all members that delegates should attend meetings of the dispute committee, whether or * not Balmain men were present. It was because the Communist-con-trolled delegates walked out that the present faction fight developed. Employees of eight unions controlling two-thirds of the workers at Mort’s Dock, are moving to settle the crane drivers’ dispqte at a mass meeting.

The dispute began on October 22 and the dock was later closed.
