Manufacturers Do Not 'Rely On Protection '

(Special.) AUCKLAND, This Day. Too much protection would weaken New Zealand industry rather than strengthen it, said the re-elected president (Mr S. H. Hunter) to the 60th annual meeting of the Auckland Manufacturers’ Association.

“Only by intense application to our tasks can be continue to hold what is our today,” he said.

“Never before have we been better qualified to compete for the consumer support of our own market and never before has it been more necessary. “To rely on the policy of any Government to protect us in our future expansion would be futile and'unwise. “We say unhesitatingly,” he concluded, “that the general standard of New Zealand products is exceptionally high and the values good. Industry here does not stand for the protection of poorly-made goods."
