Baseball To Be Played In Whangarei

The baseball bug has bitten rather effectively into the youth of Whangarei.

At a meeting recently convened for the purpose of forming a baseball league, there was an attendance of 24 and the spirit of enthusiasm that was apparent augurs well for the establishment of the game in the district. The first practice is to be held at the Whangarei Boys’ High School ground on Saturday afternoon, when an American, recently arrived in New Zealand who has faken up residence in the district, will be present to carry out coaching. The Whangarei enthusiasts are fortunate to have the services of a man so well versed in the game. Baseball is a wonderfully popular code of sifort in the United States and when American servicemen were in of exhibition matches at various New Zealand, they played a number centres.
