High Commissioner Plans North Visit

Partly through a desire to make contact with the Maori people ancl partly because of a desire to meet Northland local bodies, the High Commissioner for Australia in New Zealand (Mr A. R. Cutler, V.C.) will make a visit to Northland with his wife late this month and early in December. Mr and Mrs Cutler will leave Auckland and reach Whangarei on November 27. Next day they will go direct to Paihia. in the Bay of Islands, where they will stay until December 2. On that day they will go to Kaikohe and on to Whangaroa. On December 3 they will be in Kaeo and Kaitaia. The following day they will leave for Opononi, and on December 5 will be in Dargaville. It is expected that Maori tribal committees will arrange gatherings to which the Australian High Commissioner and his wife will be invited. The 'visitors have expressed a strong desire to make closer acquaintance with the native race of this country and see in Northland an ideal opportunity of doing so. It is stated further that Mr Cutler may call at local body offices in the principal townships.
