Good Prospects For Women's Club

AMATEUR ATHLETICS

There was not a good attendance of women at a meeting of the Whangarei Amateur Athletic Club last evening, convened for the purpose of forming a women’s branch of the club. • However, at least 12 local ladies have signified their intention of taking up the sport and the prospects of the move being a success are quite bright. It was decided to hold the first trairning Jrun for thie women on Thursday evening of next week when the points competitions for various trophies to be competed for by men members will commence. There is every possibility of the New Zealand pole vault champion, W. Heron, of Auckland, appearing at the jubilee sports at Kensington Park on November 23.
