Mrs G. W. Hollis Fails To Qualify

(Special) AUCKLAND, This Day. The feature of the opening day's play in the Auckland provincial ladies’ golf championship yesterday was the failure of Mrs G. W. Hollis to play her way into the first 16 and be eligible for match play. Mrs Hollis returned the 18th best score and will compete for the Middlemore Cup. Miss E. Wilkinson, of the Grange Club, qualified 12th. . The leading qualifier, Miss R. Hodges, completed the 18 holes in 75, the best performance yet registered by a woman player on the Akarana course. She was out in 37, which is the scratch score, and came home in 38. Her medal round was 75—7—68.
