Seek Review Of N.Z.’s Economic Stabilisation
A review of New Zealand’s economic stabilisation system is requested by the Wellington Trades and Labour Council in a recommendation adopted last night for submission to the New Zealand Federation of Labour. The decision was reached at a full meeting presided over by Mr F. P. Walsh, who is also representative of the Federation of Labour on the Economic Stabilisation Commission. It will be asked that this review should be undertaken with the purpose of restoring the financial status of workers, many of whom, it was claimed, through the elimination of overtime and other causes, had less money to take home during the last 12 months. It was proposed that failing a satisfactory explanation of this decision, further action should be considered. These recommendations were adopted. Also adopted was a recommendation raising the issue of salary increases granted to judges.
