Case Of Mr S. Lewis
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. At the quarterly meeting of the council of the New Zealand LawSociety, the following resolutions w'ere unanimously passed: •‘That the council expresses the strongest disapproval of the attitude taken by the Minister of Lands (Mr Skinner) in his letter of May 7 to Mr S. Lewis, wherein the Minister sought to force the. resignation of a» person holding judicial office upon grounds which the-council considers improper and which tend to interfere with me impartial administration of justice.” “That this council strongly affirms the principle that there should be no Ministerial, political or other interference with the administration of any judicial office and that no holder of such office should be dismissed without good and sufficient cause and without haying adequate opportunity before an independent tribunal of answering charges against him.” „
