Hobson Strikes Half Hospital Rate

(Special) DARGAVILLE. This Day. At a meeting on Tuesday the Hobson County Countil, following the lead given by the Otamatea County Council decided to allocate from its rates for the current year a hospital levy based on the average of the years 1935-39, as recommended in the report of the select committee. Any balance of the levy in excess of this * amount will be met by an overdraft. This decision means that the council will pay out of its rates only £2200 of the current year's levy of £6BOO. The motion which was submitted by Cr J. R. Batger for the third time during the discussion on the rating question was seconded by Cr G. Morrish and carried by eight votes to four.
